Privacy policy
Last updated October 21, 2026
livesong (livesong.tv and the livesong app) is a catalog of live music performances. This policy explains what we collect, why, who else is involved, and the choices you have. Questions: [email protected].
Without an account
You can browse and play everything without an account. When you do:
- Plays and views are counted, not you. When a performance has played for 30 seconds we add one to its count, and to a daily count per country. The country comes from our network provider (Cloudflare); we don't store your IP address with it.
- Your IP address is used briefly, in memory, so the same person isn't counted twice in half an hour and to see how many people are watching right now. It isn't written to our database.
- On the website, your browser keeps a few settings (like the player's queue and volume) on your device. We use no advertising or tracking cookies.
With an account
- Your account: name, email address and password (stored only as a secure hash). If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name, email and profile picture from them.
- Sessions: to keep you signed in, we store a session with the device's IP address and browser or app details, for up to 30 days.
- What you do: the performances you like, your comments and replies, your votes on comments, comments you report, venue and date corrections you suggest, and what you played (your history).
- Public: your comments and replies are public, shown with your name and picture. Likes, history and votes are private (performances show only total counts).
- Artists: if you manage an artist on livesong, we keep that role and your claim details.
- Tickets: if you buy a ticket to a live show, we keep the ticket. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store card numbers.
We use this to run livesong: your library and history, comments, emails you ask for (sign-in links, password resets, confirming your email, tickets), and keeping the service safe from spam and abuse. We don't sell your data or use it for advertising.
The livesong app
- The app collects the same as the website, nothing more: no location, contacts, photos or microphone.
- Your sign-in is kept in the phone's secure storage. Pages you've viewed are saved on the phone for a week, so they open offline.
Who else is involved
- YouTube (Google): performances are YouTube videos and play in YouTube's player, which follows Google's privacy policy and may set its own cookies.
- Cloudflare (network and security) and DigitalOcean (hosting and database) process data for us to run the service.
- Our email provider sends the emails you ask for. Stripe handles ticket payments. Google and Apple are involved only if you sign in with them.
- Artist photos and details come from Spotify; no data about you is sent to Spotify.
We may share information if the law requires it, or to protect livesong and its users from fraud or abuse.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your account data until you delete your account. You can delete it yourself at any time, on the website (Delete your account) or in the app (Library, then Delete account). That removes your account, likes, comments and replies, votes, history, suggestions and tickets for good. Counts that don't identify you (plays per day and country) stay.
You can also ask us for a copy of your data, or to correct it, at [email protected]. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, and the right to complain to your data protection authority.
Children
livesong isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has an account, write to us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above, and tell account holders of important changes by email or in the app.
